Dealer Network
Having been involved in canoe sports all his working life, founder and MD Justin Snell has seen a huge amount of changes in the industry. As we all know, retail has been going through a fairly seismic shift. As a relatively small industry, canoe sports have done pretty well to maintain the status quo for as long as it has, but we are seeing the dealer network shrinking and more and more manufacturers selling direct.
Justin said “As a company, hōu’s primary aim is to service the needs of the customer, and making sure that our boats are as accessible as possible. With the network decreasing, we feel that it’s more appropriate for us, the manufacturer, to make our boats available to everyone and not just those fortunate enough to have a dealer close by".
We understand the people may naturally first find our products on the internet. You will see in the shipping cart that there are options to click and collect your boat free of charge at most of our retailer partners. We don't mind if you buy from us or them, but we want to encourage you to use the retailers as they can offer far more personal advice that we are able to and that they can continue offering their great service to paddlers and the general public.
